Mathura is referred as city of lord Krishna and has a lot of temples, it has many traditional food delicacies as follows-
1. Mathura Ka Peda
It is the most famous local sweet available in Mathura it is also available in the form of Prasad in many temples. Mathura has been considered with peda most often. it contains caramelized milk reduction, cardamom and ghee giving it a rich flavor with the perfect level of sweetness.
2. Makhan Mishri
As we know the heritage city Mathura has the makhan chor Krishna, who was fond of makhan in his childhood days it is white sweetened butter with sugar topping served in an earthen pot.
3. Rose Milk
Most often due to extremely hot weather locals increases the supply of rose milk to avoid dehydration and let the travelers be comfy while wandering around the city.
4. Rabri
It is condensed milk served in an earthen pot with kesar and mishri on top of it.
5. Mawa Jalebi
A perfect sweet snack to fulfill the sweet cravings. The batter is made up of mawa and arrowroot served with a topping of cold rabri, making it a piece of heaven.
6. Singhara Wrapped Fries
It is a part of satvik bhojan that is a snack consumed during the fast made with singhade ka atta [waterchest nut flour] and potatoes with a pinch of black salt and black pepper.
7. Sabudana Kheer
Often served as offerings to lord Krishna. It is consumed during the fasting season as an alternative to kheer [rice pudding].
8. Dahi Bhalle
Frits are served with a dipping of thick curd which is sweet, salty and tangy and shows the perfect usage of Indian spices.
9. Aloo Puri
People over there are fond of potatoes and use them as a staple vegetable. It is Indian puri made from plain flour, boiled potatoes, Indian masala and oil for deep frying. it has so much flavor in themselves.
10. Hing Kachori
These kachoris are filled with black gram[urad dal] stuffing having intense flavors of stofodia[hing].these deep fried goodness is paired up with tamarind chutney and green chutney. People also tend to consume it in the form of chaat.
11. Makhane Ki Kheer
It is a creamy delicious Indian pudding made using fox nuts, milk, sugar, dry fruits and ghee. it is served specially on the occasion of vrat, also known as fasting. one of the favorite dessert of lord Krishna.
12. Kuttu Ki Puri
Crispy hot and good as regular puri’s made with buckwheat flour perfect for eating in vrat. it is also beneficial as it has low oil absorption capacity.
13. Aloo Ki Kadhi
It is a falahar food with its slightly sour taste that perfectly goes with the sweetness of potatoes, an easy and yummy option for covering up your craving during fast.
14. Srikhand
It is made from strained yogurt with powdered sugar, cardamoms, saffron and nuts, making it tasty.
15. Malpua
It is sweetened pancakes fluffy and crispy at the edges. made with wheat flour coated with sugar syrup, topped with nuts and sometimes served with rabri [thickened sweetened milk].
16. Poha
These spicy flattened rice are considered as breakfast in Mathura and is sold by many street vendors in the morning time.
17. Kesar Chai
It is served in an earthen pot in the local streets of Mathura and is very readily available it is a normal tea with the slight taste of saffron in it which gives a royal touch to it.
18. Ghewar
A Marwari dish is available at Mathura is made from whole- wheat flour, ghee and sugar syrup, and garnished with almonds, pistachio, saffron, green cardamom and kewra also decorated with silver works.
19. Fruit Salad
Often served by street vendors so that people can tolerate the summers as it mainly contains cucumber as it is rich in water.
20. Tikiya Chaat
Tasty and simple street food is mainly prepared from potato patties or potato Tikki consumed in form of chaat with chutneys and spices.
